During his 39-year military career, Hanlon commanded at the battery, company, battalion, and regimental levels. He also commanded the Marine Corps’ premier West Coast training facility at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; served extensively in Europe as the NATO planner and later operations officer for the Fleet Marine Forces Europe in London as well as deputy commander of Striking Forces South in Naples, Italy; was assigned as the chief of staff of Joint Task Force Provide Promise overseeing the U.S. support efforts to U.N. forces in the Balkans; and served in a number of assignments with the Navy, including as fleet Marine officer, Atlantic Fleet, and on the Navy staff as director of Naval Expeditionary Warfare.
Robert H. Laney, a 95 year old WWII veteran, presents his recently published book, titled One Lucky Sailor. Bob served aboard two ships during World War II, The USS Indianapolis from 1940 to 1943 and the USS Guam from 1943 through the end of the war. His experiences during this time left him feeling like he was the luckiest sailor to serve at sea.

Brian, a 1983 graduate of California State University, Chico (Biological Sciences) and resident of Chico, has held a variety of aviation-related jobs. He is the president and co-founder of the Chico Air Museum, a FAA Commercial Pilot (SEL, Instrument Rated, with 37 years and 2,800 hours in airplanes - no accidents, incidents, or violations), and has flown and maintained most models of high performance general aviation piston engine aircraft. Brian is currently QA Manger, Air Spray USA, is married and has two grandsons.
