Speaker: Mary Goyen

Mary Goyen was born in West Berlin, Germany the daughter of an U.S. Army captain (Carle Goyen). Four years later her father left active duty military service and was hired by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Mary grew up in Los Angeles County, where she graduated from Saugus High School, obtained her AA from College of the Canyons and attended Cal State University, Northridge. She worked for 21 years at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Twenty of those years were in various positions within the Security Department.

In 2003 Mary decided to leave southern California for a quality of life change and moved to Butte County where she was hired by the Butte County Sheriff’s Department as a Public Safety Dispatcher. She is also a Communications Training Officer and a Tactical Dispatcher (deploying to the field with the SWAT team). In addition, Mary is on the Associate Faculty staff at Butte College where she is a certified instructor at the Butte College Law Enforcement Academy.

Mary owns 12 acres on top of Table Mountain in Oroville.
